This policy addresses our handling of personal information.
Summary
We are a small, volunteer-run 501(c)3 nonprofit. We collect the minimum information needed to run our nonprofit. We don’t use that information in a way you wouldn’t expect.

Information we collect and how we use it
Your contact information is used to provide information to you about our activities, offerings, and events. It is sometimes used to inform you of other events or points of interest associated with Finnish and Nordic communities.
Contact information may include your name, address, phone number, email address, social media handles, and other ways of reaching you.
Your payment history is used for accounting.
If you use a credit card with us, those payments are routed through third-party payment services that comply with industry security standards. We do not store your credit card information, although our 3 rd party processers may, as is customary with payment industry standards. We have no access to your information stored at our 3 rd party processors, except as they may share with us in processing a disputed charge. In exceptional circumstances, if our point-of-sale credit card machine is not working, at your option, we may take your card and contact information to manually process it later. As soon as we run the charge through and it clears, we destroy the information.
Our Web site, social media presence, and other online tools that we control allow you to disclose information about yourself. Some of these tools are of a public nature where other online users can access information you provide.
In addition, we use major national/global commercial services for our Web, social media, and other online tools. The 3rd party providers of those services may collect other information that we do not control through cookies, the hidden information ordinarily contained in Web traffic, and the interactions you have with other uses of those providers unrelated to us. We do not store or use this information. We also have no control over how they use it. To the best of our knowledge, they do not have the right to use the contact information you directly enter in our tools. Please refer to their respective privacy policies for more information.
Personal information we share
We do not routinely share the personal information we collect. We do not sell information.
Marketing. We may share the personal contact information with other non-profits associated with Finnish and Nordic communities. We may share personal contact information with other cultural non-profits like ours. This sharing is in the context of joint activities and events, or events expected to be of interest to our members.For example, we work closely with Nordic Northwest (the Nordia House in Portland), and with Finlandia Foundation Columbia Pacific Chapter on joint events. We sometimes collaborate with other European non-profit language schools and cultural associations in the area. This information is shared for the purpose of marketing those events. Usually, we broadcast the event information ourselves, and do not share your information. However, your information may be collected when registering or participating in those events and shared with the other non-profits involved.
Medical Emergency. We will disclose necessary personal information to medical professionals in an emergency.
Government. We will disclose your personal information where required by law.
